Owens Corning Duration is a Class 3 impact-resistant architectural shingle built with SureNail Technology for stronger wind and weather resistance. It represents the mid-tier of Owens Corning's residential shingle lineup, offering a meaningful step up in durability and curb appeal over Oakridge without the full Class 4 specification of Duration Storm.
Duration's SureNail Technology creates a reinforced nailing zone visible as a colored strip on the shingle, giving installers a precise nailing target that significantly improves wind resistance. Class 3 impact resistance handles most Central Texas hail events without breaking a sweat, and the dimensional, layered appearance gives homes a more substantial curb appeal than basic architectural shingles.
For homeowners upgrading proactively rather than replacing after a major hail event, Duration offers a strong balance of performance and cost. Its Class 3 rating handles the majority of hail events Central Texas sees in a typical season, and SureNail's wind resistance addresses the high-wind events that are more frequent than hail in this market.

Owens Corning reserves its strongest warranty options for Platinum Preferred contractors, a designation held by a small percentage of roofers nationally and requiring ongoing performance and customer satisfaction standards most contractors never meet.
As a Platinum Preferred contractor since 2019, Ark is authorized to offer Owens Corning's Platinum Protection warranty on qualifying installations, extending coverage to both materials and labor for up to 50 years. A non-Platinum contractor installing the exact same shingle cannot offer that same level of coverage, regardless of installation quality.
